Before You Decide to Buy

Q. Are all makes of tyre the same - black and round?
A. Most certainly not! 'Branded' tyres (Bridgestone, Dunlop, Continental, Firestone, Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli etc.) are manufactured with better quality material and designed to offer maximum grip.

Tests have proven that 'branded' tyres will stop your vehicle 13 metres sooner than quality budget tyres. A 'branded' tyre will stop your vehicle two car lengths shorter in the wet than a quality budget tyre in the dry!

All that keeps your vehicle on the road are four patches, each approximately the size of the palm of your hand. How heavy is your vehicle - 1 tonne or more?

Q. When should I change my tyres and what brand should I put on the vehicle?
A. The UK legal tread depth limit is 1.6mm in the central ¾ of the tyre - all the way round the tyre. If the edge of the tyre is worn with internal canvas showing the tyre is dangerous and illegal.

For information, Germany has a 3mm minimum tread depth.

Tyre manufactures work closely with vehicle designers when new vehicle models are introduced. The type of tyre, width, profile, diameter, weight and speed ratings are key elements of the suspension setting and chassis design.

Henley Tyres recommends that tyres are replaced at 2½ to 3mm with the same 'brand' and type as fitted originally to the vehicle ensuring you continue to enjoy the handling and ride characteristics as when your vehicle was new.

Alternative 'brands' may be fitted provided the tyre specification is the same.

Q. Why should I check my tyre pressures regularly?
A. Vehicle manufactures have tested your vehicle at different tyre pressures and consequently recommend the pressures for normal and full load use of your vehicle.

Maximum grip and tyre wear along with improved fuel economy will be enjoyed if the tyre pressures are maintained correctly.

Check your tyre pressures regularly - this should be weekly and before longer journeys.
